Floor Removal Services

Our interior demolition services extend to any and all types of floor removal, including wood floors, ceramic and vinyl tiles, carpets, as well as the removal of glue, grout and other adhesives. Sometimes, it is necessary to remove the old adhesives to make sure that new adhesives stick properly to the subfloor.

If you want to put in a new floor, it is essential to have the current floor properly removed by professionals to avoid damaging the sub-floor below.

  • After removing the tiles, we will remove any leftover grout or mortar, taking care to avoid damaging the concrete below in order to make sure that a smooth surface is left over to put down new flooring afterwards.

  • There are two types of vinyl tiles: LVT (luxury vinyl tiles) and VCT (vinyl composite tiles). Renew Demolition specializes in removing both.

Luxury vinyl may also come in the form of planks (luxury vinyl planks/LVP) or sheet vinyl.

  • There are many different types of wood flooring, such as solid hardwood, cork, bamboo, and more. Wood floors are secured with nails or adhesives. Often, wood floors are secured with both nails and glue to prevent them from squeaking.

We will make sure that the process of removing the floorboards, nails and/or adhesives does as little damage as possible to the subfloor underneath.

  • We can remove any type of carpet without damaging the floor underneath the carpet. If needed, we also specialize in the removal of glue and other adhesives.

  • Removing glue/adhesives is an important step to take before laying down new flooring (regardless of whether new floor will carpet, tile, wood, or vinyl).

New adhesives do not stick well on top of old adhesives.

The floor underneath the boards, carpet, tile, etc. is called “sub floor” and it is always a good idea to make sure the sub-floor is prepped for the new flooring that you are going to put on top.

Preparation

Before we can remove the flooring, please make sure to clear the area of any furniture or other belongings. Cover any light fixtures or other object that cannot be removed from the room in order to protect them from dust and debris.
